Choosing a height and thickness: a general guide
These are common starting points only. Every site is different, so confirm the right height, thickness and staking with your landscaper before you order.
- Lawn edges and paths: 75–100mm. 1.6mm is fine for gentle curves; 2mm for straight runs that need to stay dead straight.
- Garden beds and gravel edges: 150–185mm in 2mm. The most common choice for residential jobs.
- Raised beds, steps and low retaining: 230–580mm in 2.5mm, with longer stakes or angled stakes.
- Driveway and high-traffic edges: 2.5mm.

Redcor or galvanised?
Redcor is FormBoss’s corten-style weathering steel. It arrives with a light surface rust that develops into a stable brown patina over a few months. It suits natural stone, timber and native planting. Galvanised stays silver-grey and suits modern, clean-lined gardens.
Rings, corners and accessories
- Rings: pre-rolled in 580, 777, 1165 and 1554mm diameters, 100–580mm high. For tree rings and round planters.
- Corner pieces: clean 90° corners, lip inside or lip outside.
- Stakes: 240mm to 1200mm, plus angled stakes for retaining.
- Angled brackets: 105mm to 580mm, for extra strength on taller edges.

How many lengths and stakes do I need?
As a rough guide, divide your total edge length in metres by 2.44 and round up. Stake numbers depend on height, soil and use, so confirm final quantities with your landscaper.
Will Redcor rust through?
No. Redcor is weathering steel. The surface rust forms a protective patina that slows further corrosion. Expect some rust run-off onto light-coloured paving while the patina forms, so plan placement next to pale stone.
Can I install FormBoss myself?
Many people do. Lengths join with built-in connectors, bend by hand for curves and fix with stakes through pre-punched holes. For taller edges, retaining, or if you’re unsure, talk to a landscaper first.
